Miss Honduras missing only days before she was scheduled to get on a plane to London for the Miss World competition. The reigning beauty queen and her sister could not be found after they both attended a birthday party of their friend last Thursday night.
The 19-year-old Marie Jose Alvarado and her sister, Sofia Trinidad, both disappeared after going to a party near their hometown in Santa Barbara. The police said that their sudden disappearance was not immediately regarded as a crime. But, now, they have confirmed that they have arrested four people whom they have placed under questioning.
"They include the owner of the party venue and Sofia Trinidad's boyfriend," said Police Chief Jose Coello. "They are being investigated."
Eduardo Zablah, the pageant director, told Televicentro, a CNN affiliate, that the two young women were spotted getting on a certain vehicle after the party.
Miss Honduras missing was spending several days with her parents before jetting off for the United Kingdom for the prestigious pageant. Her mother has been reaching out to her daughter's captors through the press. "Open your hearts and understand my pain," pleaded their mother on Sunday night. "There is an all-powerful God that sees everything. And I hope you set them free."
Teresa Munoz, the girls' mother, said, "Witnesses said my daughter left the spa with three men. I tried repeatedly all night to call their cellphones without any response."
The beautiful Alvarado was crowned Miss Honduras just this past April 26th in San Pedro Sula after beating 18 other candidates. According to her Miss World profile, she is a student who has her aspirations set on working as a diplomat for her country. She also enjoys playing sports whenever she has time to spare.
The highly anticipated Miss World competition has been scheduled to begin this Thursday and culminate in the crowning of a new winner on December 14th this year.
