Crown Princess Norovirus Update: 172 Confirmed Infected, Second Infection This Year

Crown Princess Norovirus update - For the second time this year, another Crown Princess Cruise ship has fallen victim to the Norovirus. After just six months since the first infection spread in one Crown Princess Cruise ship, a second cruise has been infected with 172 people confirmed to be carrying the virus.

Early yesterday, the Crown Princess Cruise ship docked in Los Angeles and was met by public health officials. This was after a five percent of the passengers and a few members of the crew had fallen ill during the 28-day tour to Hawaii and Tahiti. As for the latest Crown Princess Norovirus update, the infected individuals have been confirmed to be 172.

In a report by Reuters, a spokesperson for the Crown Princess Norovirus update spoke about the condition of those infected.

"Over the last few days, the ship began seeing an increased number of gastrointestinal illnesses, caused by norovirus," says the spokesperson, adding, "In response, we have enacted our stringent disinfecting protocols developed in conjunction" with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

More than 4,100 passengers were on board the Crown Princess Cruise ship. In a report on the Crown Princess Norovirus update, the 172 infected passengers and crew members were all treated on board the cruise ship.

An official of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is set to investigate the Norovirus outbreak on board the cruise ship. Aside from the Crown Princess Norovirus update, officials of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention explained the symptoms of Norovirus.

Norovirus shows flu-like symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting for a period of 72-hours. During such time, it can be seriously contagious. However, once effective treatment is given, infected individuals may recover in as early as three days.

One other Crown Princess Norovirus update involves the deep cleaning of the said cruise ship at San Pedro. This is before the next voyage set for the Mexican Riviera.
