Bill Simmons: Lakers Will Finish Season at 6-76, Kevin Love Won’t Join Purple and Gold

ESPN Analyst and Boston Celtics hardcore fan Bill Simmons thinks the Los Angeles Lakers have a chance to finish the season with a 6-76 record, adding it would be stupid for superstar forward Kevin Love to bolt out from the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the purple-and-gold the next season.

In his latest podcast on Grantland, Simmons talked about what he called 'intentional sabotage' from several contenders to mess up the Cavaliers' season. He believed these teams are actually leaking out falsified stories to create chaos inside the Cavs locker room.

Last week, there was a report floating about the possibility of Love opting out from the final year of his contract and then joining the Lakers.

Simmons is very certain the Love to Lakers won't happen at all. He said it's hard to think Love will bolt out from a perennial championship contender to join a team that is expected to finish with the worst regular-season record in NBA history.

"You're going to see teams start leaking stuff that's not true-an intentional sabotage. We've already seen one article this week. 'Lakers feel that they have a chance to get Love next summer.' Oh, OK. really? You do? You think Love's going to jump to your 6-76 team? I think some of these teams are going to float stuff out," Simmons said via Waiting for Next Year.

Moreover, Simmons thinks the big market and championship contending teams like the Spurs, Knicks, and the Lakers are all hoping things won't end well with the Cavs' star-studded team.

"The Phoenix Suns are dying for that situation to happen. Same thing for the Spurs. And the Knicks. And the Lakers. ... All of them are praying every night that this Cavs thing is going to be a disaster," Simmons said.

Simmons' prediction of a 6-76 finish is a big shot to the Lakers, who are already struggling to win ball games. The purple-and-gold lost eight of their first nine games this season, and is facing a very tough schedule with the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks next in their schedule.
