U.S. Troops Become Subject For Quarantine [VIDEO+REPORT]

Nearly 80 U.S. troops are subjected for quarantine after helping fight Ebola in West Africa as they arrive on Thursday.

The military personnel are set to arrive in the country in Thursday after finishing their assignment in Liberia. According to Pentagon's press secretary, Rear Adm. John Kirby, they will be back in the country at around noon and will be transported in a facility at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, about 70 miles southeast of Richmond where they will be staying for 21 days. Although none of the group shows any sign of the deadly disease, they will all undergo a 21-day isolation period wherein they will be monitored for any symptoms as a part of the protocol.

It can be recalled that the military previously announced that all personnel coming from parts of West Africa will be kept in quarantine as part of the country's preventive measures against the further spread of the Ebola virus. With that, the facility where more than 80 U.S. military members will temporarily reside is just one of the numerous locations that the authorities have prepared. According to Washington Post, other locations include Army's Smith Barracks in Baumholder, Germany; Fort Bliss and Fort Hood in Texas; Fort Bragg in North Carolina; Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington; and at the Army base in Vicenza, Italy.

Included in more than 80 U.S. troops that will undergo the mandatory quarantine are the 51 members of the Air Force; 27 from the Navy; four in the Marine Corps and two in the Army. The group will be under medical monitoring for any possible signs of Ebola hemorrhagic disease while they are still not allowed to see their family in person.

The confinement of the nearly 80 U.S. troops will be under strict policy while the 21-day isolation does not end. According to Rear Adm. Kirby, only the health care officials and maintenance personnel are allowed to have an access in the area since there is always the risk of contracting Ebola.
