Honda issues recall of 170,000 vehicles due to its defective airbags manufactured by Takata Corp.
Several deaths have been already linked to the defective product manufactured by Takata, a Japan-based company. With that, Honda has already agreed to recall its 170,000 vehicles deployed in the different parts of Asia, Europe and Oceania. The well-known car company also said in their statement that the withdrawal of their cars will cover five models while none of it was reportedly sold in parts of the United States.
The latest decision of the famed car company to retrieve its vehicles is said to be their tenth attempt while more than six million of their cars worldwide are affected. The faulty products from Takata allegedly impose serious threat to the one who uses it. These kinds of products are very important in a car since it can protect the passengers especially when there's a sudden collision; however, it seems like it's not the case with this product from the said brand.
The latest recall of the 170,000 cars across the globe reportedly happened when one death way back in July was linked to the car's defective airbags. According to an earlier report, a woman in Malaysia who was driving a 2003 Honda City reportedly died when a shrapnel hit her after the airbag ruptured and failed to function. The danger actually sets in when the Takata products are being deployed since it has the potential to rupture and that loose metal fragments can potentially hurt the passengers.
Four other deaths have been also linked to the faulty car products while Honda is currently investigating particularly the case in July where a driver from Malaysia died. Honda will also replace the 170,000 defective airbags to ensure their client's safety. Other car manufacturing companies issue a recall over the products such as the Toyota, Nissan, BMW and Chrysler.
