Will Smith movies star is the center of a rumor lately. A massive celebrity storm has engulfed Worcester after claims that the "I am Legend" actor showed up at a city center night spot.
Still, despite the stories, a backlash rose up on social media following the recent supposed visit to the infamous Tramps nightclub. Many who were there at the club that night dismissed the "celebrity" as a mere lookalike.
However, despite coming in for flak on huge social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, the promoter who was behind the event is quite adamant in insisting that the A-lister was "100%" at the club that night.
Promoters Clique Worcester put up a poster on their official Facebook page, promising that a "top secret A-list celebrity guest featured in 'I am Legend', 'Men in Black' and 'The Pursuit of Happyness' would be in attendance at the event.
Whether or not the promoters were spreading lies or telling the truth, fans were sent into overdrive. Everyone in the city was hopeful that the 46-year-old Will Smith movies star was coming to the city. Sadly, however, those who did attend the event were pretty disgruntled as they had their hopes doused. They took to social media to criticize what they referred to as a lookalike.
Jonno Roberts of Clique thinks otherwise. "Clique Worcester is completely confident that it was Will Smith and will be investigating further to confirm this for the customers on the day," he said. "I'm 100% sure that it was Will Smith. I was up on the stage with him."
Roberts even pledged that he will provide proof of Will Smith movies actor's presence at the event via photographs. He planned to present the photos later in the week.
Still, despite the promoter's efforts, there were posts on social media that dismissed their suggestions. One Twitter user posted, "As if people actually think that was Will Smith in Tramps Worcester last night. Probably the last place on Earth he'd be" while another wrote, "I've heard Elvis is gonna be in Tramps next week after Will Smith went down a storm."
