Katie Mulrennan teacher applied for a job in South Korea but she was refused due to her nature of her race. According to the Irish applicant, her application was declined due to the "alcoholism nature of her kind."
Katie Mulrennan, who is originally from County Kerry, found a teaching job in Seoul on Craigslist and immediately sent her application. However, the 26-year-old teacher was rejected through an email that told her she would not be offered the job because, as the stereotype goes, Irish people are drunks.
Mulrennan took a screenshot of the email and posted it on social media. In no time at all, the email went viral.
The email says, "I am sorry to inform you that my client does not hire Irish people due to the alcoholism nature of your kind."
When she first got the email, she was shocked by what the message was telling her. Katie Mulrennan teacher informed BBC, "When I got the email, it was so abrupt and short. I actually laughed when I read it initially. In the end, I took a deep breath and sent back a reply that was a little bit sarcastic as I couldn't believe the email I had received."
Since the screen grab of the email has already gone viral, those who have read it are dying to know what the South Korean school said after Katie Mulrennan teacher sent her reply. Sadly, however, there was no response. "I haven't heard anything back since," Mulrennan said.
Katie Mulrennan teacher shared that she had already reported what happened and has since found a new employment in Seoul, South Korea. Still, she cannot deny that the email that was previously sent to her was a very memorable one. "I was annoyed about it, but I can also see it was a little bit hilarious as well."
