Airstrikes from the United States targets Khorasan group in Syria on Wednesday night.
While a fight is ongoing between the U.S.-led coalition and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), another terror group has become the target of the recent airstrikes. According to the recent news, the U.S. force is again facing another different group of rebels that allegedly plans to attack the country as well as parts of Europe. Minimal information is known about the said group which was already identified as the Khorasan, but it was said that it is made up of about 50 al Qaeda veterans.
The rebel group recently bombed by the U.S. force is said to be under the al-Nusra's protection as they tend to share their resources. The militants are the recent addition to the targets of the military force who have been trying to combat ISIS fighters that have already infiltrated a larger part of Syria. Based in Syria, aside from the ISIS fighters, latest reports also claims that the group is in its final stage of carrying out attacks against the U.S. or western jets.
According to an article from Reuters, the recently launched airstrike against Khorasan also targets the group's bomb-maker who was identified as David Drugeon. General Lloyd Austin, the head of the U.S. military's Central Command reportedly said that they Drugeon is one of the group leaders, but refused to comment if the attack has killed him. No news about the death of the extremist's leader, Muhsin al-Fadhli in the recent attack has been revealed.
Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby reportedly cannot reveal if the Khorasan group leaders are already killed in the series of airstrikes. He also added that the group still remains as a danger especially if it continues to plan attacks against the Western countries.
