Brad Paisley Blackish comments might have made him the talk of the town once again. The famous country singer has never shied away from controversial topics, as evidenced by his previous comments, such as "Real guys don't get manicured, waxed, and botoxed", "Celebrities can act like fools because people think they're cool", and "Alcohol helps white people dance."
However, his latest string of words might have gone a step too far when he appeared at the 2014 Country Music Awards on Wednesday night. Because of his commentary, he suddenly became one of his own song titles, an "accidental racist."
Brad Paisley Blackish said that evening that viewers would not be seeing the new ABC comedy series "Black-ish," as they would be feasting their eyes on "white-ish." As soon as these words left his mouth, social media became undecided whether or not his dig at the CMAs was racist or funny.
Perhaps he was merely referring to the fact that the event, more often than not, host predominantly white stars and have a predominantly white fan base. The former judge of "Rising Star" also "blew it" when he revealed the sex of Carrie Underwood's baby on stage, right in front of all those people.
Brad Paisley Blackish told everyone that Underwood was expecting a boy soon. Although the announcement came off as a surprise to most, many believe that the revelation was actually planned.
Underwood and her husband, famous hockey player Mike Fisher, have planned to name their baby boy Garth.
Moreover, joke or not, many were not particularly happy with Brad Paisley Blackish comments. One Twitter user posted, "Rule #1: If you have to ask someone if the joke seemed racist, it probably was racist. #BradPaisley"
Thankfully for the country singer, some people on social media are on his side of the fence. One user wrote, "Don't get why @BradPaisley is getting' grief over his comments #blackishABC... Isn't the title racist itself? #comeonman!!!" while another user wrote, "Brad Paisley's joke wasn't racist, but the country music fans claiming that "Blackish" is the real problem here are."
