Ford recalls vehicles, mostly affecting 2005 through 2011 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car models. According to Ford Motor Co., there are five separate North American recalls, including one update to a previous recall repair that could end up in the driver losing control of the steering wheel.
The company has stated that an improper repair issued in a previous recall could lead to a malfunction to the car's steering shaft, ending up to loss of steering control.
This newest Ford recalls vehicles affects 38,645 cars, while the company reports about one accident that resulted from the abovementioned steering malfunction. Thankfully, there were no injuries.
In a simultaneous manner, Ford recalls vehicles 134,947 F-150 and Flex models from the 2014 model year. According to the company's findings, a front passenger seat airbag sensor could malfunction, preventing the deployment of the airbag during a frontal crash. To fix the issue, the space between the seat frame and seat track will have to be further widened and the seat sensor will be recalibrated.
Transit models of 2014 and 2015 are also up for two separate Ford recalls vehicles. For the 2014 models, 27,597 vehicles are going to be called back for the re-routing of the fuel and vapor lines. This way, rub-throughs that could cause a leakage will be avoided. This was a preventive move for the company since no incidents regarding this issue have been reported yet.
For the 2015 models, on the other hand, 92 of the diesel-powered models are now eligible for the inspection of their fuel-filter bracket. If not repaired, it may suddenly detach and make noise, or end up stalling the engine because of fuel starvation.
Lastly, 960 vehicles of the Ford F-150 are also going to be called back due to brake-pedal switch problems. Ford recalls vehicles in order to fix the incorrectly adjusted switch, which can end up delaying or preventing the illumination of the brake lights.
