NBA Rumors Central: Rockets To Trade Terrence Jones; Ryan Anderson Could Be Dealt By Pelicans To Add Depth

The Houston Rockets apparently aren't giving up in their pursuit for a third star, while the New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly open to deal sweet shooting big man Ryan Anderson for more youth power in their roster.

Third Star Coming: According to Mary Stevens of Basketball Insiders, the Rockets will keep looking for a third star and Terrence Jones' surging trade value could be used to land that player.

After dealing away Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin and not matching offer sheet for Chandler Parsons for a futile run at an elite free-agent, the Rockets still have the assets to make a deal, thanks to Jones' overall improvement.

"Terrence Jones is the next best player with trade value. He made a huge leap from his rookie season to last season by increasing his point average from 5.5 to 12.1. During the preseason, he averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds and three assists per game," according to Stevens.

"If he continues to play at a high level and keeps on improving, his trade value will continue to rise and the Rockets could use him in a deal for the third star they desire."

The Rockets have always expressed its interest in trading for All-Star playmaker Rajon Rondo, who could bolt out from the Boston Celtics in next free-agency period this coming summer.

Pelicans Gauging Interest for Ryan Anderson: The Pelicans probably boast one of the most talented starting five in the NBA with Omer Asik, Anthony Davis, Tyreke Evans, Eric Gordon and Jrue Holiday leading the charge. But aside from Ryan Anderson, the rest of their bench players aren't that good.

Stevens think trading Anderson to add more depth to their bench is not a far-fetched idea since the Pelicans are eager to contend for a playoff spot in a very loaded Western Conference.

"The best thing for both parties may be to trade Anderson and get a couple of good pieces in return, which can strengthen the Pelicans' depth. Right now, the Pelicans have a huge drop off after their first six players, so moving Anderson for several pieces could help the team at multiple positions."
