Suicide bomb attack Lahore - An 18-year old suicide bomber had killed around 55 people and severely injuring 200. The incident occurred during the Ranger's flag ceremony at the Wagah border in close proximity to Lahore. Immediately after the suicide bomb attack Lahore, a Pakistani Taliban militant group claimed responsibility.
According to investigations, the 18-year old bomber was caught entering the secured perimeter of the area complex. When Rangers had checked on him, the bomber detonated 20 to 25 kg of explosives strapped to his body. The suicide bomb attack Lahore took place 500 meters away from the Pakistani border at around 6:12 pm.
"A large number of people were returning after watching Rangers flag ceremony at Wagah border when a suicide bomber blew himself up near one of the exit gates," stated the inspector general of the police in Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera in a report by Hindustan Times.
Indian troops around the vicinity were not harmed but those who had died from the suicide bomb attack Lahore came mostly from those who had attended the flag ceremony. Security authorities claimed more could have died and extensive damages could have been caused if the bomber had detonated himself within the complex.
Following the suicide bomb attack Lahore, a militant group said to have close ties to the Pakistani Taliban had immediately claimed their responsibility for the attack. They claim this was their response to the actions of the Pakistani army.
"This is a continuation of our jihad for the implementation of an Islamic system in Pakistan," stated a spokesman for the group named Jamaat-e-Ahrar, Ehsanullah Ehsan in an exclusive report by the New York Times.
The suicide bomb attack Lahore had come after four months just when Pakistani's military army had started their offensive attack against the Taliban of the North Waziristan. The group promises more attacks that would again claim the lives of innocent people.
