Hannah Graham's killing suspect's sanity is currently being questioned by his own attorney following Friday's arraignment, CNN has learned.
Jesse Matthew, the prime suspect in the abduction and murder of 18-year-old sophomore, Hannah Graham, is expected to undergo a sanity evaluation by his own defense attorney.
As per an update on his trial, the alleged killer of Hannah Graham, - whose body was discovered in an abandoned Virginia farm on Oct. 18 - was arraigned Friday in his other case involving a woman from Fairfax, Virginia he may have sexually assaulted way back in 2005 in Fairfax, Virginia.
Graham was a University of Virginia student who was last seen in Charlottesville before the shocking discovery of her remains in October.
Defense attorney James Camblos suggested during Matthew's arraignment for abduction, sexual assault and attempted capital murder that his client be evaluated, but the judge claimed that this could only be considered once a jurist has been permanently assigned on the Fairfax case.
Fairfax County Prosecutor Ray Morrogh said Camblos' motion for a sanity evaluation of the suspect would help determine the latter's competency to stand the trial.
Though Matthew was not physically present during the arraignment, his virtual appearance was made possible through a video stream from a Charlottesville jail, where he is currently being held in relation to Hannah Craham's killing.
DNA evidence and an eyewitness are expected to quickly realize the Fairfax case that happened on September 24, 2005.
Authorities said that on that very date, a young woman was on her way from a grocery store when a man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.
"We saw her purse on the front sidewalk," said neighbor Stacey Simkins. "He had already dragged her behind our units to the dark pool area."
Simkins, who apparently didn't see the face of the suspect, was the one who alerted the authorities about the incident.
"The offender was scared away by a passer-by," the FBI said regarding the Fairfax case. "But the victim got a good look at him."
Since the victim managed to help authorities come up with a composite sketch of the man who attacked her, she is now said to be a potential witness on the case.
"I'd rather not say where she is, but she is cooperative," Morrogh said of the victim turned witness.
Amid the strong evidence against Hannah Graham's case suspect, Camblos has denied to comment on the charges, according to ClickonDetroit.com.
Prosecutors are still contemplating on additional charges to file against the Hannah Graham case suspect, whose sanity is being questioned.
"In Charlottesville, the case is much more complicated than Fairfax, because the Charlottesville case relies almost wholly on circumstantial evidence," defense attorney Scott Goodman said.
Jesse Matthew is the only suspect detained in relation to Hannah Graham's disappearance and killing. He has since been charged with "abduction with the intent to defile."
