Pee-Wee Herman returns to the big screen. Paul Reubens has just confirmed on "The Tonight Show" that Pee-Wee's big adventure is not over just yet.
When Reubens appeared on the highly watched late night talk show on Wednesday, he confirmed that another Pee-Wee movie is presently in the works. He starred as the interestingly weird and lovable Pee-Wee Herman in the 1986 movie, which also happened to be Tim Burton's first.
Reubens then resumed to reprise his role in "Pee-Wee's Playhouse," a TV series that ran from 1986 right up to 1990. The show featured guest appearances from Laurence Fishburne and Natasha Lyonne of "Orange is the New Black." Now, though, it looks like Reubens will be reprising his role once again, only this time, it will be on the big screen.
It has actually already been announced several years ago that another lovable Pee-Wee flick is going to be produced sometime soon. However, it is only of late that the media has gone abuzz about it.
Reubens told Jimmy Fallon, "There is going to be a movie. And, I was hoping that I could make this huge announcement tonight, but it's a week away, I think, from being announced."
According to him, Judd Apatow will be the one producing the film and that they will start shooting it by February of next year. With regards to who the director is going to be, however, Reubens has decided to keep mum about it.
Still, despite all the secrecy, Fallon attempted to coax the answer out of the actor, and asked, "Is it Steven Spielberg?" Reubens only answered, "Steven Spielberg!" while shaking his head.
The star of Pee-Wee Herman return movie was on "The Tonight Show" to promote the recently released "Pee-Wee's Playhouse," which has just been available on Blu-Ray quite recently.
