In what it seems a very quite NFL trade deadline, NFL.com insider Gregg Rosentha provided on Tuesday these six blockbuster trades could have made the day a lot more exciting.
In his mock trade, Rosentha believed teams should make a gamble on several big names such as Johnny Manziel, Larry Fitzgerald and Vincent Jackson, who is considered the most likely to get traded before the trade window expires on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m (EST).
Rosentha's may appear a bit crazier to football fans as it featured Manziel getting shipped to the New York Jets, Jackson packaged to the Kansas City Chiefs, Fitzgerald to the New England Patriots, Mark Ingram traded to the Cowboys, Andre Johnson going to the Seahawks and Jay Cutler finding a new home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Rosentha admitted these transactions could be way too ambitious to happen at all, but there are a couple of trade targets on the list who could see action in new uniforms starting next week.
According to the Insider, Jackson and Johnson can easily be moved because they are still playing at high level. Multiple teams have already inquired about the availability of these two Pro Bowl playesr, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans are keeping their cards close to their chest.
Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated NFL writers Chris Burke and Doug Farrar delved deeper into possible trade scenarios that could arise any time today. And as expected, they believed Jackson's days at Tampa are over, adding the Philadelphia Eagles could be a nice landing spot for V-Jax.
"The Riley Cooper experience has been far less explosive this season than it was in Chip Kelly's debut campaign. Cooper is averaging 10.5 yards per catch (down from 17.8 in 2013) and has found the end zone just once. Landing Jackson would make Cooper's struggles irrelevant -- Jackson would replace him in the starting lineup opposite Jeremy Maclin, immediately offering a better option in the red zone and beyond," according to Burke.
Without any doubt, there are hundreds of trade possibilities that could happen out there, some are huge enough to change team's fortune. However, everybody knows that trading is a gamble. So far, no GM has the balls to make that leap of faith.
