Emma Thompson Harry Potter Actress Failed To Plug ‘Effie Gray’ During Appearance At ‘The Graham Norton Show’; Actress Was A No-Show At The Film’s Premiere?

Emma Thompson Harry Potter actress apparently failed to plug her much-awaited film, "Effie Gray," when she appeared on "The Graham Norton Show." For celebrities who appear on talk shows, it has always been quite a wearying part to mention their latest film, show, or book.

However, the words, "Effie Gray," did not pass the "Nanny McPhee" star's lips when she appeared on the show. Plus, she was also conspicuous by her absence at the premiere of the movie at the Curzon in Mayfair on Sunday night.

One of the producers of the movie, Donald Rosenfeld, conceded that it was rather an "odd" event, and Tom Sturridge, who appeared with Emma Thompson Harry Potter star in the movie was relatively bemused at the after-party that his co-star was a no-show.

The movie was actually about John Ruskin, a known Victorian art critic, and his unhappy marriage. It depicts the love triangle that involved Ruskin, his wife, Effie Gray, and John Everett Millais. Thompson chose Effie Gray to be the heroine of her most recent screenplay.

Emma Thompson Harry Potter actress may have been sensitive to the suggestion that she was involved in the decision to chase Gregory Murphy for legal costs. Murphy was the playwright who attempted, but was unsuccessful in his attempts, to show that Thompson had plagiarized his work in her screenplay.

Thompson was adamant that she was not involved at all in the decision-making process of getting into litigation with Murphy and that she did not play a part in deciding to pursue him for costs.

Rosenfeld, who describes Emma Thompson Harry Potter actress as his "friend and life-long collaborator in life and charity and art," said, "Murphy is still biting at Emma's heels. She will, indeed, win the $500,000 judgment form Murphy that was decided by the New York courts."
