Taylor Swift "1989" album release was scheduled for Monday. However, the fifth studio album had leaked days earlier with the first song "Blank Space" having leaked on YouTube. Following Taylor Swift "1989" album release leak, fans of the country crooner have posted angry messages on Twitter.
For those who listened to Taylor Swift "1989" album release leak online, prepare to face the wrath of "Swifties." Swift's "1989" album was scheduled for release on Monday but given the impeccable technology today, the album was leaked online. According to reports by Vulture, France could be the source of the leak.
"If you downloaded the original leak, you'll see that song titles are missing and in their place there are a slew of numbered 'pistes,'" stated Lindsey Weber.
"Piste" stands for "track" in French. In addition, on iTunes the album shows up as "Album inconnu" that stands for "unknown album." If not France, another possible source for the album leak is Canada.
Despite the Taylor Swift "1989" album release leak, a number of her fans are still set to wait for the actual album release, which is on Monday. In support against the leak, "Swifties" have taken to Twitter to show their support for Swift's "1989" album.
"Those who leak & or listen to 1989 seriously have no respect. Tay has worked so hard on this for 2 years #WaitUntilOctober27," states one Twitter user, Taylor Fans Forever.
The leak could possibly lead to lower sales but given the loyalty of Swift's fans, this won't likely be a problem at all. Notably, this is not the first time Swift's album has been leaked. Back in 2012, "Red" had been leaked online but certainly did not affect the sales of the album.
"Taylor Swift's fans are uncommonly loyal," stated contributing editor of Rolling Stone, Anthony DeCurtis, adding, "I doubt that anyone who wanted to buy the album would be dissuaded by the leak."
For those loyal fans, Taylor Swift's "1989" album release is scheduled on Oct. 27.
