Jack Bruce Cream Dies At 71; Bruce Recognized As One Of The Best Bass Guitarists Of All Time

Jack Bruce Cream dies at the age of 71. It was his publicist who confirmed that the famous bassist has passed away.

The legendary group, Cream, which also includes Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton, have been considered to be one of the most important bands in the history of rock music. They got to sell 35 million albums in just a little over two years. Plus, they were also given the first ever platinum disc for Wheels of Fire.

It was Jack Bruce Cream dies who wrote and sang most of the band's songs, such as "Sunshine of Your Love" and "I Feel Free."

He was born in the Glasgow suburb of Bishopbriggs in 1943. His parents transferred to Canada and the United States and Bruce had to attend 14 different schools.

He finished his formal education at the Bellahouston Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. He even won a scholarship for cello and composition.

Eventually, he decided to leave the academy and Scotland at the young age of 16. He then found his way to London where he became a member of the highly influential Alexis Korner's Blues, Inc., where Charlie Watts was the drummer before he joined the Rolling Stones some time later.

Bruce played in a long list of bands all throughout the early 60s era, including John Mayall's Blues Breakers and Manfred Mann before deciding to join Baker and Clapton in Cream.

Sadly for Cream's fans, the band split in November of 1968 despite being at the height of their popularity. Jack Bruce Cream dies felt like he had strayed too far from his ideals.

Moreover, sadly for the Jack Bruce, he was never able to reach the commercial heights that he once did when he was Cream. Still, he has been revered as one of the best guitarists of all time.

In May of 2005, he and the rest of Cream reunited and had a short series of concerts that were held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Jack Bruce Cream dies was announced on his official website by his publicist, Claire Singers. She wrote, "He died today at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family."
