14 year-old gunman from Marysville-Pilchuck High School kills one female victim while injuring four other students before shooting himself on Friday afternoon.
Authorities are still investigating the recent shooting incident which involves a young student of the said institution. Tension and fear grew on Friday afternoon after the shooter just began firing inside the cafeteria in the campus during an early lunch break. Victims of the tragic incident were all identified as below 18 while three of them were reportedly in a critical condition.
According to reports, the shooter was identified as Jaylen Fryberg who shot his cousins, 14-year-old Nate Hatch and 15-year-old boy Andrew Fryberg who were both transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after being in a critical, but stable condition. Two female students from the said school in Marysville are also in a critical state after having gunshot wounds in the head.
The horrifying incident was reportedly not expected by the students who know the shooter. According to them, Fryberg appears calm and fine before the shooting happened. He was even labeled as a popular student in the campus after being named as the homecoming prince.
A CNN report says that a Beretta.40-caliber gun, possibly used in the shooting belongs to the shooter's father. Six bullets were reportedly fired to the victims before the Native American shooter was approached by a teacher and killed himself. Megan Silberberger, a teacher of the said school in Marysville reportedly grab the student's arm, but it didn't stop him to take his own life.
Although the real motive of the incident is not yet revealed, there are speculations saying that it was motivated by a breakup with a girl. School officials also said that a week before the shooting, the gunman was involved in a fight with another student in Marysville-Pilchuck High School. There are also unconfirmed claims that he has been bullied.
