The capital of the French Riviera (or Cote d'Azur) can only really be a 'Nice', ie, beautiful and pleasant translated literally into English. In addition to the glamor of the many brands, big cars and mansions, the fifth largest city in France has been greatly blessed by Mother Nature. The Bay of Angels, among many green areas, has around 8 km of Mediterranean beaches and sunshine almost all year round. In addition to these beautiful beaches, two rivers (Pail lon and Magnan) divide the small metropolis, which still has the Alps in the background.
The city is not only known for its rich beauty but also for the richness in culture and entertainment. Nice is the second largest French tourist destination after Paris and attracts more than four million visitors a year from all over Europe. Located in the south of France, between Monaco and the equally beautiful Cannes, the resort is a short hop away (30 km, to be exact) from the border with Italy. It is closer to the boot shaped nation than to the French capital, 930 km far away.
Founded by the Greeks, the city of Nice belonged to Italy until 1860. The city was also under British rule for over a century until the French took over. It was also under the influence of England to hand back the French, for over a century.
Today, the capital of the Riviera has become a hotspot for tourists looking to enjoy the sea and partying.
