High school track runner carries rival - During a North Dakota competitive race, Melanie Bailey of Devils Lake High School could have made it to the finish line but instead had skipped out on the chance to help out an injured runner. This injured runner was none other than Danielle Lenoue of whom Bailey had carried over her back towards the finish line.
Danielle Lenoue of Fargo South was way ahead of the race but had doubled over in pain after severely injuring her patella. While a number of other runners present at the North Dakota race breezed past her without a second glance, Bailey did the most humane and heart-warming acts restoring faith in humanity. The high school track runner carried rival Lenoue to the finish line.
"She was just sobbing, I couldn't leave her," explained Bailey in a report by MPRNews.
The report of the high school track runner carries rival in North Dakota race had immediately gone viral on the web. The Spread It News claims the power of friendship is indeed true in the high school track runner who carried rival to the finish line.
Losing out on the race might have caused quite the frustration for Lenoue but she found a real friend in Bailey.
"I felt like a pop in my knee. I felt like my leg was getting cut off... it was a bad pain. I could not go any further. It's just a race; that's the thing. A person is forever, a race just lasts 25 minutes," stated Lenoue in an interview with Examiner.
This report on the high school track runner carries rival in North Dakota race is not the first of its kind. Back in 2012, the same instance of a high school runner carrying rival to the finish line had happened in a race at Ohio. Check out the video below.
