Scarlett Johansson "Ghost in the Shell" film is reportedly underway. The actress has been offered $10 million to star in Mamoru Oshii's anime turned film. What else is known about Scarlett Johansson in "Ghost in the Shell" plus all the details concerning the film?
After showing off her skills in "Lucy" and Marvel's "Avengers," it's not the least bit surprising that Scarlett has been eyed to play the part of Motoko Kusanagi. "Ghost in the Shell" is an anime by Mamoru Oshii that tells the tale of the futurists Japan. Around three anime films and games have already been released. Steven Spielberg originally planned for a US take on "Ghost in the Shell" but had failed. With Scarlett Johansson in "Ghost in the Shell," new possibilities have been laid out.
Before Scarlett Johansson "Ghost in the Shell" was eyed for the main part, Margot Robbie of "The Wolf of Wall Street" had been linked to the lead. If however Scarlett accepts the $10 million offer then the role of Motoko Kusanagi is all hers.
"It looked like (Robbie) was going to star in Ghost In The Shell for DreamWorks, but those talks fizzled. I've heard DreamWorks has instead made a $10M offer to Scarlett Johansson, whose action price has risen to that level after Lucy and her work as Black Widow," stated a report by Deadline.
Scarlett Johansson's "Ghost in the Shell" is set to be directed by Rupert Sanders of "Snow White and the Huntsman" and Avi Arad of "Spiderman." Producers of "Ghost in the Shell" include Steven Paul of "Ghost Rider" and Mark Sourian of "Need for Speed." Bill Wheeler is slated to work on the script.
Hopefully, if Scarlett Johansson's "Ghost in the Shell" role pushes through the producers do justice to the incredible anime created by Mamoru Oshii.
