After six months of dating in the midst of Richard Gere's divorce, Padma Lakshmi has called it off with the Hollywood actor.
In the middle of Richard Gere's divorce, the actor had started seeing the "Top Chef" host starting in spring. Both stars refused to speak up on the relationship but sources close to the couple claim they were "happy" with each other.
"It started very recently and quietly. It's very new. I wouldn't even go as far as calling them a couple. They are dating. It's the first time Padma has dated anyone since Teddy [Forstmann, who died in 2011], and it's something she's been approaching very, very delicately. They're just getting to know each other. They're just having fun," stated the insider in an exclusive report by US Magazine.
Padma Lakshmi and Richard Gere dated for a brief six months inspire of the latters' tumble with a divorce from his wife Carey Lowell. Yet, after six months of romance, things had ended on a sour note.
"'They decided they would be better off as friends," stated a source to Page Six.
Like Richard Gere's divorce, Padma Lakshmi also had divorce issues from her three year marriage with Salman Rushdie. After Rushdie, Padma had been linked to slew of billionaires before settling down with Teddy Fortsmann. Fortsmann died in 2011 from brain cancer. After Fortsmann, Padma then dated actor Richard Gere.
On the other hand, Richard Gere's divorce from Carey Lowell was filed in Sept. The couple had been married for almost ten years. This counts as Richard's second divorce as his first divorce was filed in 1995 with supermodel, Cindy Crawford.
