Obama Cabinet Meeting Ebola: US President Cancels Trip, Calls Cabinet Meeting For New Response Teams On Ebola Outbreak, Officials To Take On More Aggressive Approach To Contain Ebola Outbreak

Obama cabinet meeting Ebola - The US President has cancelled a scheduled trip to Connecticut and New Jersey following the second case of Ebola that has struck a health worker. Obama had called in a cabinet meeting that lasted 90 minutes in the hopes of extracting a stronger and more aggressive approach to contain the Ebola outbreak in the US.

In West Africa alone, over 4,000 people have already died of the virus. Soon after, one confirmed case of Ebola had managed to make its way to the United States. Thomas Duncan, who had come from Liberia, had been diagnosed with Ebola.

In spite of the isolation and constant medical attention, Duncan died of Ebola. Four days after his death, a health worker had been diagnosed with Ebola as well. This was then followed by a second case of Ebola in another health worker. Both Texas Health Presbyterian health workers had been in close contact with Thomas Duncan during his hospitalization. A breach in contract is reportedly the cause for the infection.

Given the second case of Ebola in a health worker, Obama's cabinet meeting on Ebola occurred Wednesday. Obama cabinet meeting Ebola lasted for 90 minutes wherein he had asked senior advisers to review all steps the government has taken to control the Ebola outbreak in the US. Apart from reviewing methods, the Obama cabinet meeting Ebola hoped to clamp down fears of Ebola virus.

"I shook hands with, hugged and kissed not the doctors, but a couple of the nurses at Emory. They followed the protocols. They knew what they were doing, and I felt perfectly safe doing so," stated Obama.

Before Obama's cabinet meeting Ebola, the President was due to speak at New Jersey for a fundraiser event. Aside from the fundraiser, Obama was also scheduled to headline Connecticut Governor's Dannel Malloy's rally according to reports by the Huffington Post.
