Tennessee Woman Jail Yard Work: Woman Jailed For Overgrown Yard, Five Day Jail Sentence Going Overboard?

Tennessee woman jail yard work - A woman from Tennessee has been sentenced to five days imprisonment after being unable to maintain a clean yard. Karen Holloway has admitted to having a messy yard but thinks the sentence of five days imprisonment is a bit too much.

Who would have thought that having a messy yard could somehow lead to jail time? Well, for a Tennessee woman jail yard work was the last thing on her mind. Lenoir City officials had long sent in a warning to Karen Holloway for her unkempt yard. The warning had been sent in as early as summer but Karen with a day job and two kids at home, keeping the yard clean was the last priority in mind.

"With my husband going to school and working full time, me with my job, with one vehicle, we were trying our best. [The bushes and trees] were overgrown. But that's certainly not a criminal offense," stated Holloway.

The Tennessee woman jail yard work has been given the sentence of five days by Judge Terry Vann. Holloway claims the sentence has gone overboard stating having an unkempt yard isn't a criminal offense where people should be imprisoned along with the real criminals.

"[The bushes and trees] were overgrown. But that's certainly not a criminal offense. It's not right. Why would you put me in jail with child molesters, and people who've done real crimes, because I haven't maintained my yard," added Holloway.

On Tuesday following the original sentence for the Tennessee woman jail yard work, the five day imprisonment has been reduced to six hours in jail. A follow up hearing on the Tennessee woman jail yard work is scheduled by November.

If city officials aren't pleased with the clean-up of the yard, the Tennessee woman jail yard work could face another sentence.
