Paul Rudd will be joined by former "Lost" actress Evangeline Lilly. The funny man Rudd will be playing the lead role in an upcoming Marvel blockbuster entitled, "Ant Man," while Lilly will be playing the role of Hope Van Dyne or Hope Pym.
Lilly has just recently posted some photos on her official Instagram account that gave her followers a sneak peek into her first day of filming on the "Ant Man" set. She wrote as a caption, "First day on set with #PaulRudd. #ilovemylife #antman #hopevandyne #scottlang #marvelcomics"
For the past several weeks, there have been a lot of controversies regarding "Ant Man." Despite undergoing various script revisions, and apart from the fact that the original director, Edgar Wright, jumped from the ship, it looks like this Marvel flick's production stages are officially in full swing.
Just a few days ago, Marvel gave a press release regarding the film's production. It said, "Marvel Studios began principal photography today in San Francisco, California, on its newest Super Hero franchise, Marvel's 'Ant Man.'"
The movie has already been scheduled for official public release on July 17th of 2015, and is going to be directed by Peyton Reed, who was also the same person who helmed "The Break Up" and "Bring It On."
Paul Rudd from "Role Models" and "I Love You, Man" has been selected for Scott Lang, who is also known as the Ant Man, while Michael Douglas from "Wall Street" and "Behind the Candelabra" was cast as Lang's mentor, Dr. Hank Pym. Evangeline Lilly from "Lost" and "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" was chosen to play the role of Hope Van Dyne, who happens to be the daughter of Hank Pym.
Marvel also spilled the beans regarding the film's plot. "Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant Man suit from a new generation of towering threats."
The statement then continued, "Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull of a heist that will save the world."
