Magician Rob Anderson fundraiser idea was a very unique one. This famous Las Vegas magician approached an oblivious homeless veteran, Alan McCracken, and tore up his sign and then gave him wads of cash.
McCracken is a US Army veteran who served the country for six years before getting an honorable discharge.
Anderson's charitable act was caught in a video, and it looks like the magician wants to do even more. Magician Rob Anderson fundraiser saw how positive McCracken was, despite his current status, and was inspired to start a new campaign.
Anderson started a campaign for raising $15,000 so that he can finally get the good-hearted veteran off the streets and checked into a hotel for three months. The money will also cover his daily needs, such as new clothes, living expenses, as well as for opening a bank account.
Magician Rob Anderson fundraiser said on his GoFundMe page, "Alan is just as kind in person as he appears in the video. He can often be seen in downtown Las Vegas with a large sign that says 'SMILE,' just trying to bring a smile to strangers' faces, even if they don't give him any money."
He then added, "If there's anyone who would be deserving of assistance to get back on their feet, it is Alan McCracken."
The fundraising campaign that Anderson created quickly filled up, and, eventually, Anderson is near to reaching his goal. Additionally, McCracken has now found a place to stay in the interim.
"Alan has been able to get assistance in temporarily getting off the streets through the VA here in Las Vegas," Magician Rob Anderson fundraiser said. "He is currently sleeping on a bunk bed in a room with 3 other veterans, and has his meals and other basic necessities provided by the VA."
McCracken certainly found a silver lining in everything. Anderson later added, "When I spoke with him, he had his usual positive attitude about his situation and is optimistic about his search for a job now that he has temporary housing provided for him."
