North and South Korea Exchange Fires At Sea While South Korean Activists Attacks Authoritarian Leadership in North Korea [VIDEO+REPORT]

North and South Korea exchanged fire at the sea after balloon leaflets were released towards the direction of Paju on October 10, 2014.

The tension between two neighboring countries seems to start when the second firing incident happened on Friday. The recent incident concerning both territories comes amidst the upcoming negotiations between Kim Jung Un's government with that of other countries regarding its nuclear efforts. According to reports, the latest case was triggered when several balloon leaflets have been unleashed into the air.

The balloons, which reportedly triggered the exchange of fires at the sea are said to contain several messages that is considered against the current leadership of North Korea. The activist groups coming from the South are the ones responsible for the release of balloons. According to a report from CNN, the balloons were fired for almost 20 minutes while some of its shots have landed in the South Korean territory while they also responded with 40 rounds.

With the leaflets released into the air, the government of North Korea believes that if such action was allowed by its rival government to happen, it could possibly hurt the ties that both Korean countries have. The leaflets reportedly contain messages coming from the activists in South Korea wherein it tries to attack the kind of authoritarian leadership the country has. Moreover, there are also claims that with the exchange of fire happened in the sea on Friday, a possible strain in the relationship of both countries could happen.

On the other hand, what happened on Friday is not the first time for both Korean countries to exchange fire at the sea. On Tuesday, South Korea fired warning shots to a North Korean patrol boat crossing a disputed border while it also fired back before retreating. None of the shots were aimed to each other's vessels while no casualty is recorded.
