The Netherlands, an enchanted country

Charming, modern and liberal; this is what best describes The Netherlands. The county is divided into two provinces: North Holland, with Amsterdam as the capital and South Holland where the government headquarters, The Hague, are based. Both make up The Netherlands, so called due to the lands low altitude and approximately one third of the land is found below sea level.

Upon visiting the country you will surely notice the pride the residents have of their nationality. The first inhabitants transformed a previously a lifeless swampy area to beautiful cities, with the construction of houses, dams, bridges, river channels and drainage systems.

Over the years, The Netherlands society has become one of the most tolerant and evolved in the world. The people there are free to do what they want. The country's rich culture is also reflected in the arts, traditions and traditional folklore. The country has numerous museums, theaters, cinemas, festivals and other sights. Van Gogh, for example, is the most famous artist. Traditional food is made up of non-spicy dishes mainly comprised of potatoes and gravy, accompanied by the world famous Heineken beer.

The parks filled with flowers everywhere, boats and trams that cross the streets, skating rinks and villages with windmills set the stage for two to enjoy a romantic getaway. And everything is more enjoyable if the meeting or if you give a bike ride. The bicycle is the most common transportation form Thanks to the concern with the environment; the bike is the primary means of local transportation.

The Dutch are very friendly, helpful and almost everyone speaks English. To start up a conversation just talk football, considered the national passion of theirs.

Although the country is small; the Netherlands will easily enchant travelers and will be difficult to leave.
