Emirates' float designed by Seychellois talents

Emirates today announced that the design of its float for the "Carnaval International de Victoria 2012" will be inspired from the sketch of 10-year-old Hilary Denousse from Bel Eau Primary School, who won the STB/Emirates drawing competition, which was launched in January.

The winning entry of the young Seychellois, themed "Mix of Cultures," depicts dancers from different parts of the world on the airline's float. Hilary Denousse has won a computer for her school, as well as a gift pack, and she will take part in the carnival parade on Emirates' float, together with some of her school friends, on March 3.

The contribution of yet another Seychellois talent has been sought for the production of the float. Juliette Zelime, an award-winning student of the National College of Arts, has been chosen by the Dubai-based airline to design the float using Hilary Denousse's sketch.

"We wanted our participation to the carnival as Official Airline to be an interactive one. Hence, the idea of having our float imagined and created by young local talents. We wish to congratulate them and thank all those who have participated in the competition," said Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates' Manager for the Indian Ocean islands.

"Our participation to the carnival demonstrates our commitment to support the destination and the Seychelles Tourism Board in its marketing efforts," added Mr. Ramtoola.

"The Seychelles Tourism Board is thrilled that Emirates has chosen a theme for their 2012 float in the 'Carnaval International de Victoria' from drawings submitted by a young student from Seychelles, following their nationwide competition. We are equally proud to see that the designing work on the float is also from the Seychelles, by an award-winning student from the National College of Arts. We wanted to see Seychellois, young and old, be implicated in our annual carnival, and what Emirates is doing is really what we wanted to see," said Alain St.Ange, Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board.

"Emirates has seen the merit for a carnival in the Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region, and they have become a key sponsor of this unique event," added Mr. St.Ange.

The "Carnaval International de Victoria" starts on March 2.
