Ghostbusters 3 is most probably one of the most highly requested reboots for decades. Sadly, it has been somewhat of a fruitless struggle as script after script for a third installment of this classic blockbuster has been scrapped and thrown down the drain.
Now, though, it looks like loyal "Ghostbusters" fans are in for a treat since "Bridesmaids" director, Paul Feig, has just confirmed that he will be the one helming "Ghostbusters 3."
The famous ghost-busting team will be rejuvenated, but this time, its premise will be totally different from that of the original films. Apparently, this time around, the team will be comprised of relatively hilarious women.
Katie Dippold, the writer of "The Heat," will be replacing Dan Aykroyd, who had actually been writing, and re-writing, a script for the third movie for three years now.
Although Bill Murray will not be yielding his signature proton pack in "Ghostbusters 3," he did name a few women whom he thinks will be perfect for the third flick. He told Toronto Star during the Toronto International Film Festival that he believed Emma Stone, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Linda Cardellini will do the film justice.
There has been no confirmation on the actual "Ghostbusters 3" cast yet, but Wiig did not hesitate in saying that she was interested, if ever she would be selected to cast in it. She told Yahoo!, "I will do whatever Bill Murray tells me to do."
McCarthy did not seem to be as ready as Wiig in battling the green glob-shaped ghosts as she found taking on such a legendary movie to be quite daunting. However, she did admit that she "would do anything with those ladies, anything at all."
Feig will be taking over Ivan Reitman's spot, who was actually the director of the first two installments. Reitman opted to remove himself from the director's chair only earlier this year. "I suddenly felt that 'Ghostbusters' didn't necessarily need me as a director," Feig informed SuperheroHype.
"But, the franchise could benefit from somebody else's point of view," Reitman added. True enough, "Ghostbusters 3" will be made with a different perspective as Feig has a whole new thing planned for the film.
