Robert Downey Jr. Reveals There Are No Plans For ‘Iron Man 4’; RDJ Prepping For Another Project With Marvel?

Robert Downey Jr. might just be messing with the media, but, now, even his fans have started to get confused. While RDJ was promoting "The Judge," which will be out in theaters on Friday, he was asked countless times if he had any plans to reprise his role as iron-clad superhero Iron Man in a fourth blockbuster.

On Tuesday, he was asked by Ellen DeGeneres that very question and he answered that, "Yes," there is another Iron Man movie that is presently in the works. "I know there are going to be a bunch more Marvel movies," he said. "And, they have big ideas of how to do it best and they're in the middle of negotiation, blah, blah, blah."

After that interview, though, he somehow changed direction. He appeared on "The Late Show" on Tuesday and told David Letterman a different story. "There are no plans for an 'Iron Man 4'," he said.

Letterman asked him the reason why, and the 49-year-old actor only said, "That's a valid question. Like it hasn't made enough money? Yeah. I guess they have too much money or something. There is no script for 'Iron Man 4.' They do have a plan and I think they're going to announce it soon."

Letter man still did not let up and asked Robert Downey Jr. a second time if "Iron Man 4" was still a possibility, especially since fans have been pushing for the fourth installment to be pushed through. "Just between us, no," he confirmed to the late-night show host.

"But, I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's going to be plenty of fun stuff to happen."

Many might assume that Robert Downey Jr. was only being coy with the media, throwing in different answers to contribute to the confusion and mystery. After all, Marvel is quite known for its secrecy.
