Brittany Maynard Diaz may appear to have a blessed and loved life but things aren't as serene as they seem. For the 29-year old from San Francisco, her life and death will be played out by her own hands. The newlywed is set to end her life on Nov. 1 all because she had been diagnosed with the worst type of cancer.
After getting married, Brittany Maynard Diaz had plans to start a family and travel the world with her husband, Dan Diaz. The dreams however were cut short following the diagnosis her doctors had given her in Jan. 1, 2014.
Brittany Maynard Diaz had been diagnosed with Stage 4 glioblastoma, which is a malignant brain tumor causing extremely painful headaches that have impaired Brittany's activities of daily living. Doctors have told Brittany that she's due in six months but before Cancer takes away her life, she has decided to end it on her own.
Along with her husband, Brittany Maynard Diaz moved to Oregon, which is one out of four states that legalize "Death With Dignity." While taking her life seems like the only choice to end the hold of Cancer on her, Brittany states if she had any other choice than choosing to end her own life, she would have long chosen it.
"There is not a cell in my body that is suicidal or that wants to die. I want to live. I wish there was a cure for my disease but there's not. My glioblastoma is going to kill me, and that's out of my control. I've discussed with many experts how I would die from it, and it's a terrible, terrible way to die. Being able to choose to go with dignity is less terrifying," stated Brittany Maynard Diaz.
Since Brittany's story has gone viral, a number of netizens have poured out their support for her hoping a miracle happens that having to die on Nov. 1 would not be her only option.
