VA firing officials - Around four officials have been fired by the US Department of Veteran Affairs. According to the reports, the four officials have long been under investigation. All four were allegedly fired due to misconduct.
Several press statements made early this month had been about the issue on VA firing officials. The press release stated that the VA is still underway with the "proposed removal." Contrary to reports that four officials have already been fired, VA secretary Robert McDonald claims they haven't fired them just yet.
One VA official is the former director of the Medical Center in Georgia, John Goldman. Ahead of the issue on the VA firing officials, Goldman had retired by Sept. He no longer works at the VA Medical Center in Georgia.
"Bragging about the proposed removal of someone who has already announced his retirement can only be described as disingenuous," stated chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla.
With regards to the three other VA officials, there is a formal process to be followed, which includes the old procedure and new procedure approved by the Congress. However, VA deputy secretary Sloan Gibson had released a statement earlier with regards to the issue on VA firing officials.
"VA will actively and aggressively pursue disciplinary action on those who violate our values. There should be no doubt that when we discover evidence of wrongdoing, we will hold employees accountable," stated Gibson.
For those who have yet to know the reason behind the issue of the VA firing officials, the four officials have allegedly been part of a scandal on falsifying records, neglect of duty, unbecoming conduct and shortening appeals process to around 28 days.
Those included in the issue of the VA firing officials have seven days to send their appeal before a decision made by the judge is due in 21 days thereafter.
