Hong Kong harbor is no longer as serene and calm as it used to be. Now, the harbor known to be the best spot to catch a breath-taking view of Hong Kong has been home to a number of protests. The pro-democracy protests continue to its second week despite the growing violence and number of arrests made.
19 arrests have been made as of late by police at the Hong Kong harbor. Other than the 19 arrests made, over 12 people have reported to be injured from the protests at the Hong Kong harbor while only six officers of the force have been injured.
In spite of the violence ensuing between protesters and police, a number of protests continue. While the protests in front of the government headquarters of Hong Kong have cleared out, a number of protests continue across the Hong Kong harbor in Mong Kok district.
The pro-democracy protests are currently on its second week. Hong Kong workers aren't the only protesters fighting for democracy as even students are taking part in the pro-democracy fight. Even with the warning from the government, the protests at the Hong Kong harbor continue. Nonetheless, police have been armed with all means possible to clear the streets of Hong Kong.
"The government and the police have the duty and determination to take all necessary actions to restore social order so the government and the 7 million people of Hong Kong can return to their normal work and life," stated Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.
The message from Leung Chun-ying seems to have no hold over the protesters. Though some protesters have moved out, over 1,000 protesters have set camp in the streets close to the government headquarters. Others have set camp in public parks and a few setting up camp near the Hong Kong harbor.
