A Memphis mob attacked shoppers and workers at a parking lot of a Tennessee grocery store at random, and the video of the melee is currently marking rounds on the Internet, New York Daily News has learned.
According to witnesses, the Memphis mob attacks shoppers story happened three weeks ago when a rabid swarm of teens randomly attacked shoppers and two young workers outside the Memphis Kroger store.
A viral video on the sickening attack reveals that there were over 100 to 125 kids who instigated the brutal attack on a Saturday evening.
The mob attack is believed to be part of a "knockout game" challenge that teens play and it is aimed at injuring innocent people while knocking off each other for the - oddly enough - fun of it.
One teen from the Memphis mob attacks shoppers story was detained by authorities after a shaky footage revealed that he kicked a young Kroger employee in the head. He has since been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated riot and numerous other counts for the harm he has done.
Police were hesitant to identify the perpetrator since they found out that he was underage.
Since the Memphis mob attacked shoppers and workers story surfaced, authorities have vowed to hunt down all of the thugs involved in the brutal and random onslaught, and they are asking the help of the public to point out where the belligerent teens are hiding.
"It is extremely troubling to see how many young people were involved, especially on the heels of last week's youth forum," Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said in a statement. "A lot of our citizens are working to provide safe and productive alternatives for our youth. For those that choose not to take advantage of these opportunities, we will work tirelessly to identify, locate and hold you accountable."
Earlier reports said the Memphis mob of teens started attacking the shoppers at the parking lot located at Highland St. and Poplar Ave. at around 9:15 p.m., and one of their first victims was identified as a 25-year-old shopper, who was just about to walk towards his car.
The viral footage of the mob attack was taped by a female onlooker using her cellphone and it has been making rounds on the Internet since someone uploaded it.
In the video, the female witness could be heard yelling, "All these (expletive) kids, (expletive) hood rats" as the thugs run towards their victims and start hitting them.
The footage also shows two young goons savagely kicking a young Kroger employee, who is covering his head the entire time since rioters were pelting him with large pumpkins.
A cop could be seen responding to the scene, chasing the mob away.
Kroger spokesman Keith Dailey said the company and store officials are currently working with the authorities to investigate and quickly resolve the "senseless assault," reported NBC News.
Meanwhile, a friend of the victims in the Memphis mob attacks shoppers story told WREG-TV that the teen thugs "were playing a game called 'point them out, knock them out,'" which is basically a twisted version of the "knockout game."
"They followed hitting him with a pumpkin. He was already unconscious, so all you could see was blood and pumpkins," the friend of the victims who also happens to be a witness to the attack said.
As of writing, the video of the Memphis mob attack that was uploaded on LiveLeak.com has been viewed 171,627 times and shared 78,307 times. It has also led to debates on why it isn't so surprising that "black" teen thugs attacked white people.
