William Shatner Star Trek: Did JJ Abrams Contact Shatner For Upcoming 2016 ‘Star Trek 3’?

William Shatner Star Trek appearance might occur in the upcoming 2016 blockbuster. In fact, it looks like it is going to be more than just an appearance. According to multiple online reports, William Shatner will be an official member of the movie's cast.

It was actually William Shatner who played the role Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series and films back in the 60s. Moreover, according to the reports, JJ Abrams reportedly contacted Shatner about the 2016 movie.

Abrams directed the first two Star Trek blockbusters will be the producer in the third installment in this internationally famous sci-fi franchise, which is presently being helmed by Roberto Orci.

To date, Abrams has not given any comment on whether the rumors about him contacting William Shatner for a huge part in the 2016 Star Trek take are true or not.

William Shatner Star Trek spoke to fans at the 2014 Wizard World Nashville Comic Con on Friday and he said that while he was in Australia earlier this month, Abrams reportedly called him from London. Abrams was in London filming for "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is believed to be the first of a planned third trilogy of Star Trek's rival franchise.

According to Shatner, Abrams spoke to him and informed him that Orci "had an idea" about possibly calling him in to star in the third Star Trek movie installment. Apparently, Abrams wanted to know if he was interested. William Shatner Star Trek said, "I said, 'Oh, yeah, if it is meaningful.' Because when Leonard was Spock in that first movie, I said to Leonard, 'You know your role when you go back in time and you're still old.'"

Shatner was actually referring to Leonard Nimoy who played the role of Mr. Spock, who is Kirk's right hand, in the original series and movies. Surprisingly, Nimoy was called to reprise his role in the first new "Star Trek" movie, which was released to the public in 2009.
