The Simpsons delivered on the show's promise that a major character will be dying on the latest season's premiere, which aired on Sunday. The 26th season of this top-rated Fox comedy started with the episode, "Clown in the Dumps." Because of this, many were quick to speculate that it was Krusty the Clown who was going to meet his awful demise. Although they were wrong, they were not that far off the mark.
It was Krusty's father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski who died in the 26th season's first episode. He died in his office chair right in the middle of a conversation that he was having with his depressed son. Plus, to make matters worse, which also made the episode even more interesting, Krusty was actually talking with him because he was looking for validation from his father after he was brutally grilled by comedians Sarah Silverman and Jeff Ross.
Silverman told the crestfallen Krusty, "Welcome Krusty. I grew up watching you. Oh. Sorry. I threw up watching you." Cartoon Ross also mentioned, "Krusty, let's face it. You might not be cutting edge anymore, but your show still does really great in that key demo of people who died with the TV on."
After he was roasted, Krusty, whose real name is actually Herschel Krustofski, sought out his father and asked him what he really thought of him as a comedian and a performer. His father told him, before he suddenly died while seated on his chair, "If you want to know my honest opinion of you, you've always been...Eh."
The voice between "The Simpsons" character, Rabbi Krustofski, was actually the 83-year-old comedian Jackie Mason. Mason has been voicing for the Rabbi ever since the character debuted on "The Simpsons" in the 1991 season three episode entitled, "Like Father, Like Clown."
