The Neelys' Pat and Gina recently publicly confirm their decision to divorce after being married for 20 long years while trying to remain as friends.
A latest report from The Root reveals that the estranged couple who have been married for 20 years will soon be ending their marriage. An official joint statement released by the pair details their decision to move forward with the said process as they cite irreconcilable differences as the reason. The couple also admits that such decision has been tough for them; however, they also believe that it is what's best for them.
"Today we announce that we are ending our marriage of 20 years for irreconcilable differences. This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us," the couple's statement reads.
It was in 1994 that the Neelys actually tied the knot and then started cooking as a couple. Together, they were able to establish their own brand in the TV. Aside from their exposure in television, the former hosts were also able to make names as they release their own books while also becoming active in their restaurant in New York which they built before their divorce issue.
Pat and Gina also ask for respect for their privacy as they deal with their current issue. Aside from the possible settlement when it comes to the couple's property and wealth as part of the divorce process, the Neelys will also be confronted with their roles as parents to their two children. The chefs will both still be involved with the lives of their daughters, Shelbi and Spenser.
Despite of the Neelys decision to finally end up with a divorce process, the pair still remains positive about each other's future life. According to their statement, Pat and Gina will also remain as friends while they go on their separate ways.
