Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop were everyone's dream couple. After being together for five years, the former Disney couple split late August. The reasons behind the split have been so shocking that fans have wondered why Sarah Hyland had managed to stay in such an abusive relationship. Yet, the relationship could not have started that way at all.
In 2008, Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop met during the audition for "High School Musical 3" but it wasn't until the year 2011 when they worked together for the film "Geek Charming." The couple then started to date in 2012 with Matt Prokop talking about wanting to date Hyland for quite some time.
'I'm going to date this girl. I don't know what it's going to take, but I will make it happen,'" stated Prokop in his interview with Seventeen magazine in 2012.
Since then, Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop were inseparable. They've made it to countless red carpet events and have been named the best dressed couple in some. The former Disney couple has also been touted as one of Hollywood's cutest young couples along with Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, then engaged Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth plus more.
However, something obviously went wrong between Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop when the former was spotted by herself during the Emmy Awards 2014. Sarah, who always had Matt beside her during red carpet events, was walking down the red carpet along with her "Modern Family" co-stars.
Sarah Hyland's representative had confirmed back then that the actress had split from Prokop. It wasn't until early last week that TMZ reported about a restraining order filed by Hyland on Prokop. Reportedly, Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop were stuck in an abusive relationship with the latter becoming verbally and physically abusive.
With the romance out of the window and the restraining order out in the open, the chances of a reconciliation between Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop are close to zero. For now, the actress is focusing on her career and has admitted to steer clear of dating.
