Kelly Ripa Butt Selfie: ‘Belfie’ Accidentally Sent To In-Laws Instead Of Husband, Photo Garners 6K Likes, Was She Able To Salvage The Situation? [VIDEO]

A Kelly Ripa butt selfie has resulted in an embarrassing situation for the "Live! With Kelly and Michael" star recently. Ripa confessed to host David Letterman that she has gotten close to her in-laws more than she wanted to be with the now famous Kelly Ripa butt selfie.

ABC News reports that Ripa recently told David Letterman that she accidentally sent her in-laws a racy selfie which was supposedly for her husband, Mark Consuelos.

According to the Inquisitr, Ripa has been married to Consuelos for nearly 20 years. In an attempt to keep the fire burning in their relationship, the Kelly Ripa butt selfie was born. However, it appears that not all sweet gestures turn out as sweet when combined with technology.

Ripa appeared on the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Wednesday, Sept. 24, as reported by Us Magazine. Kelly Ripa admitted that she accidentally sent her in-laws a butt selfie, one meant for her husband who was out of town at the time.

The Kelly Ripa butt selfie story was recounted by the star on Wednesday on the late night show.

The 43-year-old explained, "I sent him a cute, adorable butt selfie in my underpants. It's the only time I've ever sent a semi-nude anything, ever!"

However, ABC News reports that the photo was intercepted to the iPad she and her husband gave to his parents. It appears Ripa isn't the only one to be a victim of the iCloud.

As People recounts, Kelly admitted she isn't one to understand how "the cloud" works. The Kelly Ripa butt selfie was apparently already being sent to her husband's parents instead of Consuelos.

Fortunately for her, their response was more encouraging than she had expected, albeit awkward. The in-laws reportedly sent a congratulatory note regarding her figure in response to the Kelly Ripa butt selfie.

According to Us Magazine, Ripa calls it the "belfie." It was shared via iCloud. Thankfully for her, she was able to laugh of a potentially damaging photo after she received a reply from Consuelos' parents via email.

Consuelos' parents replied to the Kelly Ripa butt selfie saying they are proud of her hard work and even complimented her figure.

Ripa told Letterman, "My mother and father-in-law respond from their email and they're like, 'Dear Kelly, we are so proud of all your hard work. Your exercise classes are really paying off and you look great. May God continue to bless you.'"

Ripa said, "Are you kidding me?!"

According to the Inquisitr, it wasn't long before she realized what had happened.

Meanwhile, instead of dying of embarrassment, the Kelly Ripa butt selfie is being embraced by the "belfie" master herself.

According to the Inquisitr, Ripa took another "belfie" backstage at Letterman's show (clothed this time) and posted it on Instagram. It seems confidence is truly a lady's best friend, as Kelly Ripa's butt selfie quickly became a big hit, garnering more than 6,000 "likes" and plenty of comments.

Meanwhile, Ripa warned a Letterman not to commit her mistake, reports ABC News.

She said, "I'm a cautionary tale."

This Kelly Ripa butt selfie incident is only amongst the many stories the star has shared whilst being a sport and poking fun at herself. According to the Inquisitr, though the star recently shared tales about her "nightmare" move and trip to Italy for Neil Patrick Harris' wedding, it seems the Kelly Ripa butt selfie story may stay in the limelight for quite some time and even become an all-time fan favourite, especially since derrieres are all the rage nowadays.
