A Transportation Security Administration agent has been arrested for stealing cash of $5,000 from a passenger's jacket as he was going through security at John F. Kennedy International Airport Wednesday evening.
Alexandra Schmid, 31, was caught on camera removing the cash from the jacket of a Bangladeshi passenger and wrapping the money in a plastic glove as the jacket went down a conveyor belt then heading to the restroom with it, according to Port Authority spokesman Al Della Fave.
According to Fave, the money hasn't been recovered. Police are investigating whether Ms Schmid gave it to another person in the bathroom.
Schmid was charged with grand larceny is suspending pending further investigation. She worked as a TSA employee for just over 4 years.
