Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland has gotten a domestic violence temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Matt Prokop. According to her statements, Prokop, a fellow young star, physically and verbally abused her.
It was only on Tuesday when Prokop was ordered by the court to keep a 100-yard distance from the "Modern Family" star, her house, her dog Barkley Bixby, and her workplace. According to online news, a hearing for Prokop has already been scheduled on the 10th of October.
Lawyer Lee A. Sherman mentioned in a statement, "The documents filed speak for themselves. Out of respect for the court, the process and all parties, I have advised Ms. Hyland not to comment on the matter. We request that you respect the parties' privacy during this time."
TMZ was able to get their hands on the documents. And, according to the files, the 23-year-old "Modern Family" star testified to a number of occurrences of alleged abuse that she suffered from her former boyfriend of a few years.
Hyland had recalled an awful incident wherein she was pinned by Prokop against her car last May. She said, "He placed both of his hands around my throat and began to choke me. His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life." Moreover, it was also because of this incident that she suffered some injuries to her voice and even had a "very sore throat following this event."
According to the young star of "Modern Family," she did not immediately report it to the police because Prokop promised her that he would never do it again, as reported by the Associated Press.
Additionally, Hyland also stated that such abuse occurred throughout the entire duration of their relationship. They met back in 2008 while they were both auditioning for "High School Musical 3: Senior Year." Plus, they even co-starred in "Geek Charming," a TV movie back in 2011. Later, the two youngsters decided to live together with their maltipoo, Barkley Bixby, which Prokop gave to the "Modern Family" cast member.
