Back in April of this year, Toyota had recalled a number of Innova, Hilux and Fortuners due to a faulty spiral cable. Now, two other automobile companies have announced a recall for a number of their utility vehicles. GM had announced a recall on the Impala and Cadillac cars while the Jeep and Doge of Chrysler SUVS recalled.
What exactly is the issue with the GM and Chrysler SUVS recalled? For GM, the problem with the Cadillac mobiles released from February 2012 to August 2014 have an issue with their electronic parking brake piston actuation arm. The same issue affects Chevrolet Impala models that have been manufactured and released from January 2013 to August 2014.
As for Chrysler SUVS recalled, the issue involves the Dodge and Jeep sports utility vehicles. The issue for the Chrysler SUVS recalled involves the fuel pump that could potentially lead to stalling problems. Chrysler SUVS recalled amount to over 230,000 of which may have any of the problems mentioned: may permanently or intermittently not start on the first time, not start at all, not stay running after starting or even after shutdown of the vehicle the fuel pump stays energized.
To solve the Chrysler SUVS recalled, an improved relay circuit will be installed. This would improve durability of the fuel pump relay. Such problem with the Chrysler SUVS were first noticed in October of 2013 in the Dodge Durango and Grand Cherokee sports utility vehicles. These SUVS are 2011 models that have 5.7 liter V8 engines or 3.6 liter V6 engines.
Despite the recall, Chrysler has not recorded any injuries, accidents or fatalities due to the faulty issue of the sports utility vehicles. The Chrysler recall estimates over 7,126 in Mexico, 188,723 in US, 19,013 in North America and 188,723 in the United States. Affected customers will be contacted by Chrysler for the available service schedules.
