In a surprising twist, Tim Burton has released a film that doesn't include either his wife, Helena Bonham Carter, or his favourite actor, Johnny Depp. The renowned director has released his latest "Big Eyes" movie which is a normal take on Hollywood films. What exactly is the "Big Eyes" movie all about?
"Big Eyes" movie set in between the 1950's and 1960's centres on Margaret Keane, a painter played by Amy Adams who had to deal with legal issues regarding her paintings. Walter Keane, Margaret's husband, played by Christoph Waltz had claimed credit over her works. Walter's reason for taking credit over Margaret's paintings was because he thought people wouldn't purchase art from a woman.
Aside from the manipulation between husband and wife, the film tackles the earlier part of Margaret and Walter Kean's relationship. Their romance begun at a park where Walter sees Margaret painting.
The "Big Eyes" movie is set to premiere by November 27, 2014 in Russia and by Christmas in the United States. Directed by Tim Burton, other cast members include Krysten Ritter, Terence Stamp, Danny Huston and Jason Schwartzman. With the cast and the plot being quite plain and normal, how did "Big Eyes" become the title of the film?
In Margaret's paintings, which were mostly of children, the eyes were enormously large thus the title for "Big Eyes" movie. Ironically, Tim Burton's "Big Eyes" movie bears no resemblance to his earlier work most of which tackled the paranormal, like "Dark Shadows." Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are also noticeably absent from the Burton-directed film.
The film "Big Eyes" however closely resembles another Burton film which is mostly restrained on the extraordinary touch of the director namely "Ed Wood." "Ed Wood" was written by the same screenplay writers of "Big Eyes," Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander.
