Dad Teen Drink Police Incident: Tennessee Dad Forced Son To Drink Until Passed Out As Lesson, Was It A Proper Punishment?

Dad teen drink police incident happened as an East Tennessee father forced his teenage son to drink alcohol until passing out after he caught him drinking, said police. Because of the dad teen drink police incident, multiple reports say the dad is facing charges of child abuse.

According to the Associated Press, witnesses called police to the home where the dad teen drink police incident occurred on Saturday night after 35-year-old Mark Allen Hughes forced his son to play a drinking game.

Apparently, the "punishment" was forced on the teen to teach him a lesson after Hughes caught the boy drinking alcohol, reports KFOR.

Several people present during the dad teen drink police incident reportedly told the authorities that the drinking game occurred while both were watching football inside the home on Saturday. Witnesses said the dad forced the drinking game because he caught him drinking, according to The Inquisitr.

Not knowing what would happen, some of the witnesses left. However, when they returned, they found the teen on the kitchen floor and passed out.

Reports say Hughes fought with those who tried to take the teen to the hospital. They were therefore forced to put Hughes in the back seat of the car before they alerted police by calling 911.

According to some of the witnesses, Hughes was screaming profanities even as police arrived at the scene of the dad teen drink police incident.

Officers said Hughes appeared "clearly intoxicated" and "couldn't keep his balance." According to The Inquisitr, the officers had to restrain him as he reportedly tried to attack some of the witnesses.

Officers eventually found the 15-year-old boy passed out in the back seat of the car. According to WBIR, police said he was unresponsive after the dad teen drink police incident. They added that the teen was without pulse so they performed CPR until an ambulance arrived.

According to KFOR, the teen had been airlifted to Children's Hospital in Knoxville for treatment. Currently, the teen is doing well after having been released from the hospital, said his grandmother.

WBIR-TV reports Sweetwater police charging Hughes with aggravated child abuse, neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Sweetwater Police Chief Eddie Byrum said of the dad teen drink police incident, "We try to teach the youth, you know... don't be drinking, don't be doing drugs. And here you've got a parent who is contributing to the problem."

According to Byrum, the case of the dad teen drink police incident will be prosecuted to the fullest.

He said, "We are going to prosecute it to the fullest. We'd like to use this as an example where if anybody else is out there and thinks this is how they're going to govern their children or direct them, we will put a stop to it."

The Inquisitr reports that U.S. authorities are serious when it comes to charging people who discipline children "the old-fashioned way."

Arizona dad Kristopher Harvey was sentenced the previous year and is under probation for child abuse after he forced his sons, 13- and 14, to drink three shots of liquor after finding out they had been sneaking alcohol behind his back.

The incident was put to light after a neighbor alerted police upon hearing the boys were screaming in the pool. Harvey was arrested and accused of throwing the boys in the pool. However, he claims the boys were intoxicated and they had jumped into the pool themselves.

Dad teen drink police incident is definitely an example of a parent disciplining his child "the old-fashioned way." But they are under constant pressure more so nowadays with underage celebrities glorifying partying and drinking in the media. Hughes may have gone too far in this case of the dad teen drink police incident, but surely it will be one lesson the boy will not forget.
