Wheel of Fortune million goes to a middle school math teacher from Northern Virginia. Sarah Manchester, a mathematics teacher at the Takoma Park Middle School, got wind that "Wheel of Fortune" was having its "tryouts" for its show in Northern Virginia. Perhaps, she had nothing else to do, so, she decided to give it a try.
Manchester has always been a huge fan of the show and, for her; there was absolutely nothing to lose if she tried her luck on the show. She was hopeful that her named would be called, but did not really have much of her hopes up. So, she just sat on the ground and started to grade papers while the "Wheel of Fortune" staff pulled names out by random.
Manchester shared, "I figured if my name wasn't pulled, at least, I was getting my work done."
Fortunately for her, her name was called and she was more than excited to be part of the show. On Wednesday night, the 42-year-old Sarah Manchester became the third person in the entire history of "Wheel of Fortune" to ever win the show's million-dollar prize.
The crowd was thrilled with Manchester's win. In fact, even the show's host, Pat Sajak, was thrilled when she answered the bonus round puzzle correctly. She answered, "Loud Laughter." This meant that she got the chance to spin the wheel in order to pick her bonus round envelope. Luckily for her, the envelope contained a $1 million prize.
Perhaps, due to the fact that evening games shows sprouted quickly over the years, "Wheel of Fortune" decided to bring out their A game and introduce the $1 million twist in 2008. Two people have luckily won this particular prize so far. Sarah Manchester's "Wheel of Fortune" million win makes her the third person to get this certain prize since it was brought into the game.
