Suspect In Trooper Ambush Identified As Survivalist Eric Matthew Frein; Frein Still At Large And Regarded As ‘Extremely Dangerous’

Suspect in trooper ambush identified to be a 31-year-old Eric Matthew Frein. As reported, Frein is a survivalist who has been very vocal about his desire to kill law enforcement officers and commit mass murder.

The suspect in trooper ambush identified was reportedly armed, and still is, with a .308-caliber rifle that he used as he openly fired on the barracks last Friday, according to the State Police Commissioner, Frank Noonan. Noonan referred to Frein as "extremely dangerous."

Noonan stated during the conference, "He has made statements about wanting to kill law enforcement officers and also to commit mass acts of murder. What his reasons are, we don't know. But, he has very strong feelings about law enforcement and seems to be very angry with a lot of things that go on in our society."

The suspect in trooper ambush identified was charged on Tuesday with homicide of a law enforcement officer, first-degree murder, and other offenses. At present, approximately 200 law enforcement officials are scouring the area of northeastern Pennsylvania, which happens to be marked by a very dense forest. Despite this, it would seem that the suspect in trooper ambush identified still has not been found. Noonan said, "We have no idea where he is."

According to Lehigh Valley Live, Frein lived with his parents until several months ago, at a house that was located around 20 miles from the area where the ambush occurred.

The suspect in trooper ambush identified killed Cpl. Bryon Dickson, 38 years old, and severely wounded Trooper Alex Douglass. The ambush was done during a late-night shift change. Sadly, however, the gunman was able to quickly slip away before he was apprehended.

The authorities were only led to Frein when a resident saw a vehicle that was partially submerged in a pond two miles from the barracks. Inside the vehicle, the local police found some shell casings that matched those that were found at the scene of the crime, as stated by Noonan. They also found Frein's Social Security card, a black hooded sweatshirt, military gear, a Pennsylvania Game Commission range permit, a couple of empty rifle cases, and camouflage face paint.
