"OITNB" writer Lauren Morelli is dating show actress Samira Wiley, after the former has filed for divorce from her husband Steve Balisone.
According to Daily Mail, Morelli and Balisone had been together for six years and were married for just five months when the 31-year-old realized that she was a lesbian.
Back in May, "OITNB" writer Lauren Morelli penned a moving essay confessing that working for the series made her realize she was gay. She said she first made the realization in the fall of 2012, on one of her first days on the set.
"It wasn't so much one thing, but the sum of many small details: how uncomfortable I felt around groups of lesbians or how I considered myself (shrug) a 'not very sexual person.' When considered alone, these seemed like little quirks that made me me. I found myself answering to an endless stream of cast members who peppered me with questions like a gaggle of kindergarteners curious about their new teacher. 'Are you dating anyone?' 'You're married?' 'To a man?' 'But you used to kiss girls?' 'Do you miss it?' I was finally forced to consider a question that had never, ever occurred to me before: Holy sh**, am I gay?" an excerpt from her letter read.
With Lauren Morelli and Steve Balisone splitting soon after her confession - Hollywood Life reported the two decided to separate ways sometime around Christmas last year, the female writer then fell in love with actress Samira Wiley aka Poussey Washington of the Netflix comedy-drama series.
Lauren Morelli and Samira Wiley reportedly started dating at the beginning of the year. However, they only went public as a couple at this year's Emmy Awards last month. Their relationship was apparently not a secret on the set of "Orange Is the New Black" as the two would often post cute selfies on Instagram with each other.
