2 Dead SWAT Standoff - One adult male and one adult female were found lifeless inside a home after an approximately 12-hour SWAT standoff in Cobb County.

According to multiple 2 Dead SWAT Standoff reports, cops in Cobb County were dispatched to a home on the 6200 block of Sawtooth Oak Ct. off of Mayfield Way in Smyrna after someone called to report a man armed with a gun.

The 2 dead SWAT standoff reportedly began at around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Police had been outside the house in the Oakdale Bluff community in Smyrna since midnight. No reports of shots were made at the time.

Smyrna Police spokesman Chris Graeff told the Associated Press that officers responded to a call about an armed person inside a home early Sunday morning and became involved in a standoff that included a SWAT team.

Cops originally believed the armed man was holding a hostage inside the townhome. However, they failed to make contact with anyone inside. They sent a robot into the home Sunday morning, to sweep floors, WSB-TV reported.

When the SWAT team finally gained entry to the home Sunday afternoon, they discovered a man and a woman inside- both dead. Graeff said investigators also discovered an infant inside who didn't appear to be harmed, but was taken to a nearby hospital for observation.

The 2 dead SWAT standoff in Cobb County concluded Sunday afternoon at about 2 p.m.

As a precaution, a total of twelve people and a dog were evacuated from surrounding houses and were not immediately allowed back inside, CBS46 has learned.

Cops said the 2 dead in the SWAT standoff appear to have known each other. It wasn't clear though who resided in the home and who did not.

Details on the child's age and the relationship between the three were not immediately available. It wasn't also disclosed how the adults were killed in the 2 dead SWAT standoff case.
